We've talked about the location of Hacienda Iluminada which is in Maricao, Puerto Rico, but we haven't really talked about how amazing this little town is! Maricao is a place where you can escape the noises of the city and be surrounded by nature and culture, and of course, delicious coffee! Maricao is known as “la Ciudad del café” or the city of coffee, and every year they have a coffee festival that you must experience. In this Hacienda Iluminada blog, we'll talk about the beauty of Maricao and its cultural festivals.
The Magic of Maricao
Maricao, Puerto Rico best known as “ciudad del Cafe” (Town of Coffee) is full of amazing views and of course delicious coffee. This colorful town is surrounded by large trees, animals, and millions of birds. It is also, of course, the location of Hacienda Illuminada. You can breathe in coffee, tranquility, and the beauty of this town. Maricao, time seems to slow down, allowing visitors to admire the beautiful nature and simplicity of life. The town of Maricao is also full of coffee plantations, forests, and amazing waterfalls. For humans who enjoy nature, adventure, and, of course, coffee, Maricao is a perfect place to visit.
La Fiesta Del Cafe!
The annual coffee festival, also known as "La Fiesta del Café," takes place on different dates, usually at the beginning of the year, between February and May. This year, the festival happened in February and lasted for three days. The festival is located in the main plaza of Maricao and offers a wide range of activities such as coffee tastings, gastronomy, desserts made with coffee, artisans, exhibitions of agricultural products, music, and contests. It's a great opportunity to enjoy delicious coffee and immerse yourself in the local culture.

Hacienda Iluminada is lucky to be part of this amazing town, it's where our single origin coffee grows. We are proud to be part of this town and show humans from around the world where our fresh coffee beans come from. When you have the opportunity to visit us you'll learn about coffee, farming techniques, the history of coffee on Maricao, and the amazing process that our coffee beans go through to get to your fresh cup of coffee every morning. Nothing only in Hacienda Ilumnda will you earn about coffee but on every corner of this town, because its people are proud to be part of something so magical. We can say it's magical because, from Maricao, the coffee can travel to every part of the world. especially for us, our coffee travels to every coffee shop in Puerto Rico, New York, and Texas. But from there our amazing humans take it to their hometowns in Mexico, Venezuela, or Germany. We can now say de Puerto Rico Pal' Mundo!
